LOS FRUTOS

DE LA HUMANIDAD

Spain

2024

The Fruits of Humanity is a conceptual exhibition exploring the environmental and ethical implications of unsustainable design in everyday products. Rooted in a collective research project called Product Biopsy, we dismantled and analyzed home appliances — specifically a hairdryer — to understand their material complexity and long-term environmental impact.

The final installation was a sculptural tree, symbolizing life growing from waste. Each metal rod in the structure represented one of the dissected appliances, with its length and form reflecting the volume of waste each product generated. We hand-welded the rods and blew glass directly into them, forming organic, fruit-like shapes that captured the tension between beauty and destruction. The result was a striking visual metaphor: dead appliances becoming the seeds of new life, prompting viewers to reflect on consumption, disposal, and the hidden costs of convenience.
